Maternal Ancestors

Albert Klatzkin
Immigrant from Russia circa 1900 at the age of 15 years.

Upon reaching Ellis Island, Albert’s last name was changed to Klein

Albert Klein lived the rest of his life in Manhattan, New York USA and is my Great-Grandfather.

Albert owned and ran gas stations for many years.

In the process of starting cars with a crank at the front of the vehicle, as was common in early automobiles, Albert twice broke his arm.

Surah Basha Rifkin
Immigrant from Russia.

Surah became Sarah upon reaching the United States in 1909 and then became Sarah Klein when she married Albert (above).

This is a picture of my Great-Grandmother Sarah Klein holding my Grandmother Tisha Kayla in mid 1914.

Tisha Kayla was known to my family as Kay.
